February 4, 2013

Mayor opens public hearing for Bill B-2013 a proposed local law to Establish Revised Water Rates

Mayor summarizes content of Bill and reasons for the 10% increase and also clarifies some information that has been circulating that is incorrect.

Mayor opens to floor

Ozzie Albra, 8 Siscar, Town of Fishkill: Responds to Mayor’s comments regarding his information put in his Blog. Also, regarding the water line Bond he asks where the line goes to.

Mayor: the line goes beyond the Putnam County line

Albra: Who will be responsible for the pay down of the $1.7 million bond?

Mayor: The rate payers

Albra: So me living in Glenham, I’d be responsible for it?

Mayor: Part of your money goes to the maintenance of the water lines, yes

Albra: Through an increase in the rates or on the tax bill, like we got this year

Mayor: It will just be in your water rate. We just did an increase for our operation costs, that’s a capital project that we’re not increasing specific for that project.

Albra: So when you do the Bond, there will be no increase?

Mayor: There will be no increase

Art Francis, 15 Luyster Pl, Village of  Fishkill: clarifies the rate increase of 10%

John Depew, 32 Sharon Drive, Village of Fishkill: When will rate increase go into effect and will it also be reflected in the sewer rates.

Mayor: Water rate will increase next quarter, sewer rate just went up this past billing
