Trustee Anthony Ruggiero

On February 1, 2021, Mr. Ruggiero was appointed as the Assistant Commissioner for Administration for the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health.  Mr. Ruggiero brings to the City of Beacon over 25 years of public service.  Prior to working for Duchess County, Mr. Ruggiero was appointed as the City of Beacon’s 3rd City Administrator for the City of Beacon in 2015 and as the City of Peekskill’s 12th City Manager in 2013.  Mr. Ruggiero had worked for the City of Peekskill since 2000 as Assistant City Planner, City Planner, Director of Planning and had served as Acting City Manager on a number of occasions.

Prior to working for the City of Peekskill, Mr. Ruggiero held municipal positions for the Town of Poughkeepsie and the Town of Beekman. In January 2013, he was appointed as Putnam County’s 2nd Commissioner of Planning, Development and Public Transportation in the Department’s 32 years of existence, before returning back to the City of Peekskill as City Manager.

Mr. Ruggiero has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from SUNY Plattsburgh, and a Master of Public Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Ruggiero is a Trustee and Treasurer for the Blodgett Memorial Library in the Village of Fishkill and was a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

Mr. Ruggiero is a past member of the Municipal Administrators Association of Metropolitan New York (MAA), the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the American Planning Association. Mr. Ruggiero is a past Chairman of the Village of Fishkill Zoning Board of Appeals, Vice Chairman of the Town of Fishkill Planning Board, and Treasurer of the Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Society for Public Administrators (ASPA).

Mr. Ruggiero has lived in the Town/Village of Fishkill for thirty-six years. Mr. Ruggiero has been married for twenty years to his wife Christina and they have two daughters.
