Comprehensive Plan

From time to time, the Village reviews the Comprehensive Plan to ensure that it still represents the goals of the Village.

In October 2007, the Village Board of Trustees authorized a Comprehensive Plan Review and appointed a committee of volunteers to update the Comprehensive Plan that had not been examined since 1974.

Working with the committee under an inter-municipal agreement is Jennifer Cocozza, Senior Planner from the Dutchess County Office of Planning and Development.

The committee has been actively meeting since February of 2008, dedicating many hours each month to this task. They focused on seven policy areas:

  • Community Identity
  • Population and Economic Growth
  • Community Facilities
  • Historic Preservation
  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Land Use

The goal statements were presented to the village residents at a public meeting held in June 2008. Resident input was considered as the team continued its work. A Public Hearing in February 2009 was held by the Committee upon completion of its work on the plan.

A Public Hearing, called by the Board of Trustees, was held on July 20, 2009, at 7:15 PM. The Village Board of Trustees accepted the Plan by resolution at their regular meeting on July 20, 2008.
